Toddler girl shoes come in all shapes and sizes. It may be tempting for parents to either want to put their child in the cutest shoes that they can find in the stores. Or parents may feel that it does not matter what they pick up for their child because they will only grow out of one pair very quickly. It is hard to justify paying over $50 for shoes that they will outgrow in several months.
One thing that is very important when choosing shoes for your toddler is to keep in mind that they are growing and developing. That means that their feet are growing and developing right along with the rest of their little bodies. So you want a shoe that will support and help shape that growth.
It is not to say that the shoe will definitely keep away foot deformities. Most deformities will form regardless of the whether a show was worn or not. However; a cute yet poorly built shoe can hurt the natural growth of a young tender foot. A shoe that is too heavy will also be more detrimental than having no shoe at all.
It was once believed that high top shoes were necessary for ankle support. Unfortunately; orthopedics no longer agree with this statement. If the child can walk, then they are perfectly able to support their weight without the additional aid of a high top shoe. It was also thought that toddler girl shoes should have a high arch to prevent flat feet. That is no longer believed to be true. Flat feet will occur regardless of what shoe is used.
The most competent place to get information about your child's shoes is from your pediatricians. Friends, relatives and the local shoe salesman have the best intentions but they will not have any concrete information about what is good for your child. If your child does seem to developing a foot condition, your pediatrician is the only place to look.
Leather is the most expensive material in relation to shoe materials. However; leather will allow the feet to breathe and you will not have to worry about the feet sweating in leather. You do not need leather shoes with leather soles, only the tops need to be made from leather. Sneakers are a good option for when your little girl wants to play in the sandbox or just muck around.
The two important aspects of a shoe's sole are the flexibility and the traction. You want to sole of a shoe to be thick enough but not so thick that there is not any flexibility to them. Traction plays a big part in toddler girl shoes so that they will not slip on wet floors. High heels or any heel is not necessary for any shoe for a toddler. If you do have a pair, be sure that those shoes are only for special occasions.
You do need a shoe salesman to help measure the size of your child's feet when you are out buying toddler girl shoes. You will want to make sure that you can slide your finger down between the back of the shoe and shoe, so that you know that your child's feet will have enough room to be comfortable.
